I have a whirlpool cabrio washer. does great until spin cycle and sounds like a jet engine. Extremely loud, screams. Everything else seems to work okay.

It is probably either the rotor or stator, as that is the motor on this unit. Sometimes the bearings can go bad also...

Difficult to diagnose that without actually being there.

Does the unit make the noise if you spin in by hand while off? If it does, then remove the rotor and spin it by hand again. If the sound goes away, it is either the rotor or stator, and if it does not go away, its probably the bearings.
