This thread is really just for confirmation - my dishwasher won't stay running unless I either press in slightly on the door after latching it closed and hold it there or I manage to wedge a folded up cereal box just so between the top of the door and underside of the countertop.

I assume that the most likely culprit would be the Door Latch Assembly, right? Anything else that would cause this problem?

Can anyone back me up on this? I don't have the extra money to throw parts at this dishwasher and hope I guess right.

Thanks!

Bumping this up. I managed to take apart the dishwasher and shim the microswitches in the door latch assembly to get it to work, but now it seems as though the microswitches have given out entirely. I just ordered a new door latch assembly, but can anyone tell me if it would be safe (from an electronic standpoint) to bypass the microswitches just so I can clean the full load of dishes that are in the dishwasher?

I know that the dishwasher won't shut off if I open the door and there are no kids in the house today, I just want to make sure I won't fry the dishwasher by bypassing the switches.

Thanks in advance for any insight / help that you can provide!
