My Kenmore dryer takes forever to dry on the High level, especially when
drying towels. I've checked for lint backup and checked breakers and A/C.
Should I replace the heater, and thermostats? Can you provide step by step instructions.
Thanks...... RLD

Hi RLD

The first thing I would recommend is that you take off the lint chute by taking out the two screws that hold it to the cabinet that are under the lint door and by taking off the back. The top will now flip up by inserting a screw driver and prying up from the front. Then clean lint chute out completely, and clean out the air intakes and outflow grills in the dryer and all the lint you find inside the cabinet. Finally make sure the vent to the outside is clear.

Put things back together and see if this helps. If not, repost and we will have some more suggestions about testing and replacing parts.

Ok thanks. I've already done most of the cleaning, plus I've done a continuity check on the heater and thermostats. My wife seems to think the washer isn't wringing water out like it used to. It's an old washer, so maybe I'll take a look at that. It you think of anything else drop me a line.

Thanks again

Ok, try this. The next time you wash a load, leave it in and put the washer on final spin. That should get the clothes pretty close to where they would be if the washer were operating correctly. Then put them in the dryer and see if the dry time is normal.
