Worth it to invest in an LG LDP6797SS (model year 2022)

I picked up a free LDP6797SS. Previous owner said the drain pump stopped working so I thought I would replace it myself. When I went to go test it before pulling the pump it made a buzzing sound then smelt smoke and the harness caught fire a bit. I was able to turn it off before anymore damage occoured.

With the state of the connector is it worth replacing the pump? I could probably see about getting a new connector as the pins are OK inside, but not sure LG sells that part as I can only find a new harness, and with the harness and motor its almost the same cost as a new unit.

How are LG in terms reliability? This unit is from 2022 and already the motor failed. Not sure I want to replace the motor if more parts are likely to fail.

For the drain pump to buzz and then actually catch fire like it did, the issue was probably with the wire harness connector. Most likely the connection was loose, and if the harness and connector pin aren’t replaced, it could cause more problems down the road. Unfortunately, it’s not unusual for a drain pump to fail within 2–3 years on a washer, so what you’re seeing (minus the catching fire bit) does happen.
