i cannot figure out how to open panel for hidden bake for my whirlpool oven WOD51EC. There appears to be a seam running around the inside towards the back that would slide out most of the complete inside.
On your Whirlpool WOD51EC wall oven, the bake element is hidden underneath the oven floor. However, the seam you’re seeing toward the back doesn’t necessarily mean the entire bottom panel slides out.
Whirlpool uses different oven-bottom designs, and some require accessing the hidden bake element from outside the oven rather than removing the floor from inside.
Before trying to pry anything loose, here’s what I recommend.
Check the oven floor first
- Turn off the oven breaker and allow the oven to cool completely.
- Remove both oven racks.
- Look along the rear edge of the oven floor for screws, small tabs, or retaining clips.
- Check the front edge near the door opening for screws or a lip holding the floor in place.
- Don’t force the panel or pry against the porcelain coating. It can chip or crack.
If you don’t see any screws or obvious retaining tabs, don’t assume the bottom is removable from inside.
I found Whirlpool service information indicating that the WOD51EC family generally requires access from the rear of the wall oven to service the hidden bake element. The oven may need to be pulled from the cabinet, with two people supporting its weight.

The seam you’re describing may simply be part of the oven liner rather than a removable panel.
Could you give me the complete model number? It should have additional characters after WOD51EC, such as WOD51EC0AS00 or WOD51EC0HS00.
With that, I can narrow down the correct access procedure so you don’t have to start removing panels unnecessarily.
