white powder was blowing onto the refridgerator shelves .. so i took off freezer panel to see what was going on..under the evaporator is a pile of white powder.. I have no idea what this is and can find no info on this happening to others.. i ncluded some pic although they are ok quality

no. that is what i thought it was.. like a box tipped over in there.. so i compared..but not as white and fine…almost as if the evaporator iced up.. then when unplugged it defrosted and left this residue behind…i just want to make sure its not toxic before i try and use fridge again
It sounds like what is left when ice cubes, made with hard water, evaporate. I see stuff like that in icemakers all the time. A fine white power that smells.
no water hooked to this fridge and no ice maker… the amount of powder is like 4-6 sugar packets worth.. and no its not drugs..just odd… and no one ever heard of this…almost like there was a coating that came off the evaporator.
Well your not the only with this problem, My Maytag refrigerator seemed a little warmer today, so thought to check all the vents for blockage, That’s when I noticed the mysterious white powder and that is how I came upon this blog. I cleaned underneath and back so we will see what happens.
