Model ED25DQXBW00. Following move (and with the water supply to the ice maker disconnected) re started the fridge, Worked fine and ran for approx. 5 hours. Unit was working fine and cooling down normally. After approx. 5 hours run time, GFI into which unit was plugged tripped out. Reset GFI and fridge restarted. Ran approx 4 - 5 min. then it again tripped out GFI. I Re reset GFI. Unit will not start/run. I checked it again after sitting over night and unit will not start up. Could it have shut down due to an overheat condition? Or, is there some type of interlock system with the ice maker that shuts down the unit if the ice maker is not operating (I experienced this with same/similar Whirlpool fridges)?
It’s probably a weak GFCI outlet. Refrigerators are not supposed to be used on a GFI-protected circuit. The easiest thing to do is replace the outlet with a new GFCI; but you really need the refrigerator to be on its own 20-Amp circuit.
