Whirlpool WTW8040DW4 washer cut power on and it trips the electrical circuit breaker

Model Number: WTW8040DW4
Main Symptom: trips electrical breaker
What happens & when: the tub was leaking and started smelling wires burning and breaker tripped. Changed the transmission and still tripping breaker

If the wiring harness from stator to the control board was damaged and that is what is tripping my electrical breaker. Would it be the control board or the stator that needs replacing or both?

Adam, there is a definite short somewhere. Go carefully over all the wiring and electrical connections. Somewhere voltage is shorting to ground. If you can disconnect certain connections and see if it still trips. When you find the one that does not trip the breaker, you have found your problem, good luck!
