Have you put it into diagnostic mode to check codes and activate components? Here’s the tech sheet if you need it.

Rory, thanks for the info. I’m finding code F142 and code E42. Am I right in assuming the F142 lists the broad faults and the E42 points to the motor?

If I’m reading the code right that is F7E6, which is a motor fault. Could be the motor itself [AP6809228], the gearcase [AP6993915, the control board [AP5951723], or something not reading properly.

When were the components you referenced in the original question replaced?

Have you tried activating spin or other functions in the diagnostic mode?

Continuing the discussion from Whirlpool WTW5000DW0 (knocking):

Rory, good to know the code numbers are actually added together to get the true code. I’m sorry for taking so long to reply, trying to find the time in my day. The components mentioned were replaced at least a year ago, at different times. I did forget to mention that I have seen evidence of oil in the basket (small drops) and also some underneath the machine. I did try to run other functions, especially spin (which didn’t seem to work in diagnostic mode). The machine will spin when in Sensing and Fill modes (not diagnostics), but does not agitate. It will also Spin/Drain fine at the end of the wash (not diagnostics). Thanks for your help!!

The oil under the machine says the gearcase AP6993915 will probably need to be replaced sooner rather than later. Too much drag from the gearcase can cause that F7E6 code.

This whole thread started over a knocking noise, does it seem to be coming from under the washer?
