When you say that the shift actuator keeps breaking, is it physically breaking or does the shift actuator just stop working?
It stops working, it no longer agitates but it spins. The arm on the actuator moves freely on a new actuator the arm is stiff, this is why I said ““it breaks”“. When I put a new actuator on it works for a few weeks and stops agitating again. I also replaced the Pulley Clutch and drive belt.
Can you help me figure out why my shift actuator keeps breaking? I’ve replaced the Pulley Clutch, drive belt and put in a new Short Cam Agitator Kit.
Unless something is binding it should not allow this to continue to occur. Double-check the installation of the pulley and splutch assembly.
I can take it apart and check. When I replaced the pulley clutch and belt, it squeaks now. Is there a lubricant I should use on the belt?
There is no lubricant to put on the belt.
Why is it squeaky? What else can I look for that would cause binding?
The squeaking could be caused by a belt that is faulty but that would be about it.
The belt is brand new and his been squeaking since I installed it. ![]()
This shift actuator lasted a month. The part I got from Appliance Parts is broken. I orderd another one. What else can cause the shift actuator to fail?
