Whirlpool wont start - no response from user interface

Brand:Whirlpool
Model Number:wdt730hamz0
Main Symptom:Wont start
What happens & when:No response when pushing buttons on top panel. Tried turning off breaker for 5min. It worked for a day then stopped reponding again. The 1-2 error code says its a communication error between user interface and main control board. Replacing both gets expensive. Hi, since you’re getting the 1-2 error code, it sounds like the main control board and the user interface (UI) aren’t communicating properly. Before replacing any parts, I would start by checking the wiring between the two.

First, turn off the breaker to the dishwasher. Remove the Torx screws around the inner door panel to access the control panel. Locate the wire harness connecting the main control board to the UI board and check for loose connections, broken wires, bent pins, or any green or black corrosion. If you see corrosion, clean the contacts with electronics cleaner, let everything dry completely, and reconnect the harness securely.

Once everything is back together, turn the power on and see if the dishwasher responds normally.

If the wiring looks good and the problem continues, I would suspect the UI board next, especially if the dishwasher works temporarily after resetting the breaker and then stops responding again.

Thanks for the response. I will check the wiring first
