Whirlpool - Water does not shut off (overflows)

Select cycle (does not matter load size or water temperature), machine starts filling up with water, and will not stop. It will continue to fill until it overflows

Well, that’s a GE, not a Whirlpool. Anyway, remove the front panel and with an empty tub, disconnect the pressure hose from the air chamber on the left side of the tub and clean the gunk out of it. If there’s gunk inside the air chamber, flush it out with hot water using a turkey baster (dome is not removable). Be careful not to break the hose nipple off the air dome.
