Whirlpool washer

Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number:

  • WTW5057LW1

Main Symptom: won’t start
What happens & when:error

My whirlpool top load won’t start all of a sudden . It makes 3 humming sounds from the bottom of washer when I press start, there are no other sounds no clicking , then it drains and then it says done on the board. I’ve already unplugged the washer. I’ve already went and done the diagnostics, which gave me F7E6 as the error code. It does not fill up with water. It doesn’t spin. However, when I Try to move the basket by hand, it moves freely. The behavior is exactly the same on any setting, whether it’s normal or delicate or just drain and spin.

Code (if any):F7e6

Based on the issues you’re experiencing, I suspect it is a shift actuator problem. I recommend running the washer’s diagnostic cycle. After you’ve entered Service Diagnostics on the WTW5057LW1: After running Auto Diagnostic mode I would suggest checking codes again.

  1. Press the START button once to enter Automatic Test Mode. The washer will begin the automatic component test sequence.

  2. The machine will automatically step through:

    • Lid lock

    • Cold and hot water valve tests

    • Agitation

    • Drain pump

    • Spin functions

    • Other system checks depending on software version.

  3. To stop the test at any time:

    • Press POWER/CANCEL, or

    • Unplug the washer.

For field service work on this platform, I usually recommend:

  • Enter diagnostics

  • Check stored fault codes first

  • Then run the automatic test

  • Finally run Calibration Mode if a control, actuator, motor, suspension, or gearcase component has been replaced.
