Main Symptom:washing machine won’t start
What happens & whenMy whirlpool top load won’t start all of a sudden . It makes 3 humming sounds from the bottom of washer when I press start, there are no other sounds no clicking , then it drains and then it says done on the board. I’ve already unplugged the washer. I’ve already went and done the diagnostics, which gave me F7E6 as the error code. It does not fill up with water. It doesn’t spin. However, when I Try to move the basket by hand, it moves freely. The behavior is exactly the same on any setting, whether it’s normal or delicate or just drain and spin.

Hi Maryia1, it sounds like you’re having a motor-related issue. That error code is telling the main control board that it’s detecting a motor failure, which is why the washer won’t spin or agitate. Have you checked underneath the washer for any corroded or burnt wires on or near the actuator or the motor harness?

I did quickly look at it but nothing seems out of ordinary . I’ve attached some pictures .

You’re welcome. Okay, you’ll need to remove that plastic cover and take the belt off. Then spin the pulley on the motor by hand and check if you feel any resistance.
