What happens & when:
Whirlpool washer is very loud on the spin cycle and I’m not sure why. It’s still functioning but when it goes into spin cycle it’s very loud.

Drain Pump or something in the drain pump
Drive Clutch Kit
Drive belt can shift and rub against the belt cover.
Washer Gear Case this is very common 
The belt, clutch and pump can all be accessed from under the washer.

If it is making a noise similar to the rollers on a roller coaster, or sounds like “a jet engine trying to take off”, then the issue would be in the gearcase. Since this is happening only in the spin cycle, the gearcase would be the most likely cause if the drain pump sounds normal when draining.
