Brand: Whirlpool Model Number: WTW4800BQ1 Main Symptom: Stops after wash cycle What happens & when: Some loads it runs as it should and completes each cycle normally. But every 3 or 4 loads it fills, washes and then while it drains there are no lights on. A few minutes after it is done draining it unlocks and the wash light comes on again. It does not progress past that point on its own. It will rinse and drain (on rinse & drain cycle) if initiated with the dial and start button.

Based on the issues you’re experiencing, I recommend running the washer’s diagnostic cycle. For the Whirlpool WTW4800BQ1, make sure the washer is empty and all indicator lights are off. Turn the cycle selector knob counterclockwise one or more clicks to reset the sequence. Then, within 6 seconds, turn the knob being sure to pause 1\2 second between each click:
Right 1 click
Right 1 click
Right 1 click
Left 1 click
Right 1 click
If entered correctly, all status lights (except Lid Lock) will begin flashing. Once in diagnostics, you can retrieve stored fault codes and run automatic or manual tests to help identify the source of the problem.
I have attached the Tech sheet I used for reference.
One note: the “turn the knob one full circle (360°) counter-clockwise” instruction is commonly passed around online, but this specific Whirlpool tech sheet only requires rotating counterclockwise one or more clicks to clear/reset the sequence before entering diagnostics.
