Whirlpool start relay installation

I purchased the kit AP3873993 (8201799) to replace the start relay for my Whirlpool side by side ED25LF. Some things which may be obvious to the experienced are not so to me.

Once it comes time to actually install the kit, the manual simply states “Install the correct new overload protector”, and later “Install the new PTC relay”. But it’s not clear WHERE to install them.

I have removed the white box which houses the old relay. Do I need to remove the wires (white/red) from the old white box? If so, how? I can’t get these connectors off.

Once that’s done, I see how the separated overload and PTC start device connect to the 3 prongs in my compressor, but do they go inside a housing to keep them together?

Is the original start device a ptr one, small,black, plastic device? If so, take a picture of the wiring to it, or note which wires go where.

So, how do you get these connectors off?

Do I use the black box for anything?

I use a flat blade screwdriver to pry the connectors off. You will not need the cover if using the white box,

I’ll try to take the white box apart and reuse it.

Maybe I need a smaller screwdriver, I can just get one in there, but wasn’t able to pry the connectors out without breaking the plastic around them. Are these things spring loaded? Or am I just jimmying it out from the plug?
