Whirlpool Sidekick Refrigerator water in bottom

I have a Whirlpool Sidekick Refrigerator Model #EL7ATRRSO1 K1. Recently we are having an intermittent problem where water collects at the bottom of the inside below the crisper drawers and eventually pours out. There is no drain at this location to clean out.

I have two Theories

  1. Bad gasket - air gets in then condenses.
  2. Blocked/Frozen drain - Where would this be? On the back?

I appreciate suggestions on how to fix this. I am pretty handy and have no issue taking things apart or replacing them.

Check if there is a drip pan on the back of the fridge. If there is one then look for the drain.

I had the water pooling in the bottom of my Sidekick Refrigerator issue, here’s how I fixed it.

  1. Unplug Fridge
  2. Remove all internal shelves.
  3. Remove internal back panel – (4 screws) midway down the back of fridge. This will reveal the drain and also inner workings. Putty from the access hole had dried, fallen out and blocked the drain. your case may be different.
  4. Unplug the drain; I used a wire coat hanger, pushing all the way through to the tray at the bottom, then cleaned with hot water. To see the drainage tube that leads from the drain, you can remove rear lower exterior panel (8 screws)… you’ll see a transparent plastic tube right in front of you, it ought to be clear, if not, then clean it. This drains into a tray accessible from the front bottom of the fridge.
  5. Notice the shoddy construction and poor workmanship in general.
