I know that I have to replace the ice maker but what about the motor(s) that operate the fan that the ice maker attaches to? The fans and motor(s) are attached in an insulated rectangle located behind the ice maker. The ice maker attaches to the insulated portion and the entire thing goes into the ice maker cover and behind the cover.
The icemaker fan should be running. It not only supplies air to the icemaker but also helps circulate air into the refrigerator section. You may have to press the door switch in to get it to come on. If it is not running, it probably will not get cold enough to cycle the icemaker. To replace the icemaker, you will be pulling that entire icemaker/fan assembly out together.
So I installed the new ice maker. I can confirm that the fan is working and the door button is calling for ice, but it’s still not producing ice. What next?
I installed it yesterday evening. I read that it should have something overnight but it hasn’t been quite 24 hours yet. The water dispenser is working correctly.
Well, there 3 requirements for an icemaker to make ice, temperature (0-5 deg.), water, and a functioning icemaker. If it puts water in, then it has to be the temperature or the icemaker. Since you replaced the icemaker, it comes down to temperature, water, and even power going to the icemaker. When you run the icemaker from the service test 25, does it show a water fill? There is also test 36 for the icebox fan and 37 for the icebox thermistor. What results did you get?
I believe tech-sheet-WRX735SDBM00.pdf (608.9 KB)
on your model ,there is s service sheet under the top right hinge cover. The tech sheet tells you how to run diagnostics on almost every function on this refrigerator. It tells you how to start the service test and what the results are. These three tests will help you I believe.
I completed the three tests. It looks like I need to jump the ice maker filler from test 25. The other two tests were good.
Edit: I looked online how to jump the ice maker. I got a 14 gauge wire and placed it into the correct holes and the gear clicked and started to turn. I’ve closed everything back up so hopefully this will finally fix it.
Edit 2: After 24 hours I still don’t have a functioning ice maker. Even after I’ve replaced the entire ice maker and the solenoid, and kept the ice maker out of the fridge for a week, nothing has improved. I also just tried jumping the ice maker again but this time it didn’t work.
