My Whirlpool GU2400XTP dishwasher keeps blowing the fuse. It sat up for 6months because the control panel went out and I couldn’t afford to get a new one. Finally replaced the panel and the thermal fuse blew during the first wash cycle. I tried to put a 15AMP automotive fuse in it’s place to check it out before I bought a new thermal fuse and it too blew during the first cycle. Any ideas? I am planning on ordering a new thermal fuse kit, but I also am trying to find out how to test the motor and heating element.m I am a master auto tech, I have the tools to diagnose and fix it, but I do not have a repair manual to guide me.
Here are your parts

Your Model Number looks like it is short a couple digits. The following tech sheet is for XTBP1, 3, 4, and 6

I doubt it would be the heating element it is basically just a length of resistance wire so it really cannot short back on itself.
Could be a motor or one of the wax motors.
Could be something has shorted to the frame.
Check your new board for signs of overheating etc.
Knowing when the fuse blew during the cycle would help you determine what was on at that time.
Here is a manual although not for your specific unit it should be close, at least mechanically.

And finally here is the tech sheet for the above unit so you can see the differences from your unit.
