Whirlpool panel lights blinking

I have an issue with my whirlpool quiet partner III. When I turn the power on, and push some buttons (any buttons), the following light show starts:
The rinsing and the soak+scour button turn on and stay lit
The pots+pans and normal light blink back and forth.

The above happens no matter what buttons I press. I have already replaced the Cntrl - Elec , Part Number: AP4566308 to no avail.
It has been recommended to replace the button control unit now (Panel - Cntl AP4371149).

Would that solve my problem and how hard is it to replace?

Having the same problem. What was the final solution? Is there a skematics of the control panel to check to see if the buttons are working prior to buying a new control panel?
