Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: WMH31017HS08
Main Symptom: Microwave does not heat and makes a loud buzzing noise instead.
What happens & when:

After getting help diagnosing a fridge for my in laws, he told me this morning that his 3 year old microwave stopped working. After a brief search, it seems this is a magnetron issue. That’s fine, but should I replace capacitor and diode while I am in there for this or just replace one thing and hope that’s it? I’d just like to have all the parts I might need on hand.

It would not be necessary to replace the diode and capacitor if they are faulty. You would just need to replace the magnetron.

OK. Those parts are not cheap, I will test them to make sure they are good with my MM. Thank you!!
