Hey guys and gals,
I’ve got a “Whirlpool Heavy Duty Thin Twin”… it’s an apartment style stackable washer and dryer. It’s worked great until recently when I had a load that was probably either too heavy/off balance or both.
Anyways, it seems that spin basket is now completely out of balance. Everything works perfectly until it gets to the spin cycle. When it gets to the spin cycle it bangs around and eventually it gets “stuck”. When I say “stuck” I don’t mean that it actually stops spinning… but rather that the force of it spinning and being out of balance causes it to shake violently and the spinning basket gets wedged in between the lid sort of?
It’s less than 2 years old… and I’m hoping it’s not a horribly complicated problem, seems like it’s a pretty basic problem from USER ERROR haha. Everything else works fine, dryer works, rinse and cleaning cycle work but when it gets to the spin cycle its way too much out of balance… And when I say out of balance I don’t necessarily mean it’s not level or not “balanced” it’s just like the basket doesn’t want to sit straight up if that makes sense. Like even right now it’s not sitting level within the machine and i can pull it a couple inches in each direction. At first I was hoping maybe it just came off something and I could pop it back on but IDK.
During the spin cycle it spins and it gets pinned between the top and ends up in a crooked position sort of. Anyone have any ideas? If not how much would it cost to have a repairman come out and take a look at it. Because it’s a stackable and one piece I know it wasn’t cheap for the whole setup and I hate to think I ruined it by trying to stuff too many clothes in it and only hafta do 1 load of laundry instead of two.
Thanks in advance!
