Whirlpool Ice Dispenser

Have a Whirlpool ED22PW ( 1991) side by side with through the door ice and water–the ice dispenser is slugish closing and drops cubes after the fact–It looks as though it just needs a good cleaning but i can’t see how to remove the cover to get access–Please -could anyone advise as to how the front cover is secured?–or is a manual and parts list available? Many thanks for any help–Mel

The front dispenser cover can be removed by inserting a screwdriver blade into the two slots on the bottom side of the cover. By gently turning the blade, the cover will snap free at the bottom and can be slid upward to be removed.

Good luck.
Gene.

Many thanks Gene–just what I needed—Mel

After googling Whirlpool and finding no satisfactory solution to my leaking ice chute problem I discovered reassembly of the trap door spring, plunger & pivot pin easily done once I followed your tip on removal of the front dispenser cover without breaking it.

Mel and Bruce,

You are welcome. I’m glad you were able to fix it.

I have a Whirlpool ED25RF refrigerator - it makes plenty of ice,but won’t dispense it. Would the solution for the other model of Whirlpool refrigerator work for mine too? Thanks!

Can you describe it more detailed please?

The model number you posted is incomplete. Verify and repost it please.

I’m having the same problem. Ice gets made no problem, fills the bucket, but when front is pressed on by a glass the door opens up but nothing turns making the ice fall. It’s a Whirlpool Gold, Conquest

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Gene.

Where would I find that? I looked everywhere but it’s probably in plain sight!

Hopefully the Model Number Locator will help.

Hi Gene,

My whirlpool model number is ED5FVGXSSOO . My problem is when the arm is left down water floods my freezer. It does not make it in to the ice maker at all. I can see that the water freezes in the line going to my ice maker and then floods my freezer. I end up with a frozen waterfall in the back of my freezer.

I am able to get cold water through the door.

Thanks for taking the time to help everyone!

Aloha,

Jane

Hello Jane,

Thank you for your good words.

Most likely the problem with your refrigerator is a bad water inlet valve on the back of the fridge. I also would recommend to make sure that the water feeding tube into the ice maker is not misplaced.

You are welcome Jane. Keep us posted.

My Ice won’t come through the little door either. It builds up in the freezer door. Help?

Did the ice door open?

Gene.

No it doesn’t

Remove the dispenser panel and check the solenoid and air gate parts.

Gene.

How do I do that?
