I have a Whirlpool HE Cabrio Washer purchased 2.5 years ago. The washer started making a loud screeching noise when washing only. It does NOT make this sound when spinning, filling or draining. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have a 10 year warranty on the transmission? only I believe. If that is the problem I will have them replace it.
I found the problem, there is a gap around the impeller (a low-profile rotating hub that replaces the agitator in some washing machine models) This gap is big enough for coins to fit into. Once the coin (quarter) was removed, the loud noise stopped, works fine now.
