Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: WRF767SDHZ04
Main Symptom: Display chimes and flashes
What happens & when:
I have a Whirlpool French Fridge that the customer reports is about 16 months old. Model #: WRF767SDHZ04 Serial #: KD0507865. Here is my visit summary from today that includes the report of the customer prior to my visit. I am curious what you think are good next steps if the flashing and chiming returns, but everything else appears to be normal:
During the entire timeline of events there has been no issues with cooling.
The first issue that came up was that there was a non-stop loud humming sound appearing to come from the ice maker in the ceiling of the fridge cabinet that continued for 4-5 hours.
Then later, when ice/water paddle was depressed, there was non-stop chiming and flashing of the blue icons on the display panel and light around the paddle. This was interrupted when the doors would open.
Customer unplugged unit for 10 minutes. Plugged back in and started to flash and chime right away.
Then unplugged overnight. Turned off the ice maker.
At one point, customer did take off the front panel where the display was and undid some connections, but there has been no improvement.
Prior to my visit today, the unit was plugged back in, No flashing or chiming for 15-20 min, then chimed and flashed for 30 min and then stopped. Since then, it has not had any issues for 4-5 hours.
During my visit, I completed multiple diagnostic tests. The ice maker completed a harvest cycle and dropped 6 medium sized cubes and filled with water. A user interface test was done and there are no issues with the display or buttons. Fans and baffle run and no unusual noise. During my visit, the replace water filter light came on, which the customer found curious since it was replaced 6 weeks ago. The customer had a replacement one available and that properly reset the alert. The customer had a non-OEM Whirlpool filter in use and a similar one to replace it.
