Sorry for the long post, I can usually figure this stuff out, but this one has me stumped.
It is a Whirlpool Dryer, LER5620KQ1, when set for low-heat we get no heat. The heating element does not come on at all. All the other cycles work fine, the automatic dry on high heat and the timed dry on high heat. This model does not have the timed dry on low heat.
From reading this forum I learned that on low heat a heating element on the dryer cycling thermostat boosts the temp by 20 degrees on the thermostat which causes the heat to be basically 20 degrees cooler. So I checked the voltage to that element and sure enough got 120V when set for low heat. Everything seemed to test out fine. Thinking that there was probably an issue with the thermostat and the heating on it I replaced it, as well as the high limit thermostat and thermal cut-off on the dryer heating element.
Well no luck, it still behaves as before, which I guess in my gut I expected since everything tested out OK (with multimeter) before I replaced it. I guess I was just tired of trouble shooting. I tried jumpering the drying cycling thermostat still no low heat.
So to wrap-up when set for low-heat we get no heat. It is sending voltage to the heating element on the dryer cycling thermostat when set for low-heat. Replaced the dryer cycling thermostat as well as the high limit thermostat and thermal cut-off. Heating element works fine on high-heat settings. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
