Electric Dryer will not start, Lights come on. When I push the start switch, the heat comes on but the motor will not start. I’ve replaced the starter switch and the door switch. Still won’t turn on. I tried to spin the drum, holding the door switch and it still won’t turn on. I do not hear the motor come on at all. I’m thinking the motor is bad. Does this sound correct to you?

Yes, most likely a bad motor.
There should be no heat in the drum unless the motor is running(the motor switch closes the L2 circuit(power to the element)and L1 power to the element is supplied through the timer and thermostats.
Your description would indicate the motor start/run switch is stuck open and the heater circuit is stuck closed.
(the switch is not available as a separate part/you will need the motor).

You’ll have this problem diagnosed and repaired in no time .
Check the thermal fuse for a closed circuit(thermal fuse is located on the heater element housing on the back of the cabinet). If it is an open circuit you’ll need to order this kit
While you’re there, check the element resistance, should be around 20 ohms if it is not shorted or broken, and inspect the wiring harness for possible broken wires,or loose terminals.
At the top of the diagram there is an area labled “Legend”.
When you set the timer dial in one of the “settings” listed on the right side of the box, You’ll check the matching terminals(striped boxes) on the dryer timer for a closed circuit. The timer terminal location is on the bottom of the page.

LOL. I will have a new dryer by the time I’m done. I learned a lot. I cleaned out the lint and made sure that the duct work was clean all the way to where it vents outside. Most of it was in the tube from the dryer to the wall. I did learn a lot about the dryer and now know I can fix just about anything that goes wrong with it. Thanks for the help. I have this site bookmarked and will return the next time I need help.
