I accidentally unplugged our Whirlpool Duet washer. The washer was empty and not running at the time. When I plugged it back in, the control panel was dead and a fast clicking noise was coming from the top of the washer. I tried unplugging it again, and plugging it back in; I also tried flipping the fuse switch in the garage and flipping it back. Nothing seems to work. I can’t even get it to start a diagnostic sequence. Nothing lights up in the control panel.
Thanks for your reply! We’ll try that. We initially suspected the CCU, not the MCU, since the clicking sound seems to be coming from the front right-hand corner on the top of the machine. Would a failure in the MCU be responsible for the CCU making noises too?
Also, just wanted to confirm that you’re suggesting we check the MCU to see whether current runs through it properly. (I wasn’t sure whether this was what you meant by using the meter to check for current.)
Do a search for Whirlpool manual L-68 which is for an earlier version of your machine. You should be able to download it for free or for a nominal cost. I don’t know if there is a service manual for the later models.
