Whirlpool Duet w/ Steam getting to hot

The dryer cabinet and clothes were extremely hot. I followed the advice of several online sources and tested several parts of the dryer. Exhaust tube is spotless, blower works, tested the heating element with ohm meter (removed wire and it tested at 10.2 ohm) I turned the dry to air only mode and the element still came on. Tech sheet in dryer said to test the P4 connector at the 3 and 6 wire. I didnt get any reading at all at the plastic connector (or was I supposed to test those positions onthe circuit board?) So is it the control board that is bad?

Here are your parts

When you checked the heating element did you also check to see if it was grounded?

Unplug the unit.
Measure from each side of the element to the machines frame/ground.
Both should be infinite ohms.

If the element is OK then odds are that the control board is toast, perhaps the heater relay contacts are welded together.

where are the heater relay contacts?

Take a look at the parts, Bulkhead Parts item 14.

Bulkhead itme #14 is the heating element. I tested it. The tech sheet said to check the #3 and #6 wires of the P4 connector for continuity, which i did but got no result. Also I could not find the control panel on the parts diagrams you pointed me to.

Oops must have had my head up my you know what.
Saw the heater part but the relay part did not register.

The part you want is item 40 in the Cabinet Parts section.
The relay is on the control board not the control panel.

When yu checked the outlet thermistor were you on a high enough meter scale.
At room temperature it should be about 10,000 ohms so your scale must be higher than this.
