Whirlpool Duet front-load washer that stopped two minutes before cycle completion and now won’t start any new cycles

Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: WFW9250WL01
Main Symptom: wont start
What happens & when:

Hi everyone, I have a Whirlpool Duet front load washer. Here’s the situation:

  • The machine stopped at the end of a cycle (about 2 minutes before completion).

  • Since then it does not start any new cycle.

  • No error codes are displayed.

  • When I try to start either a normal cycle or a diagnostic cycle, the door locks, but nothing else happens.

  • I replaced the pressure switch and the drain pump – no change.

  • I was able to start water fill and drain separately in diagnostics, but I could not get it to spin. However, I’m a beginner and honestly was just pressing buttons randomly, so I don’t really know how to run spin correctly in diagnostics.

  • It looks like the door latch locks, but I’m not sure if it is sending the “door closed/locked” signal back to the control.

Should I suspect a problem with the motor control board since spin never happens? I don’t really like this version, because I don’t even see fill and drain at the beginning of a normal cycle — if the motor board was the problem, I believe fill and drain should still work.

The unit is not at my place — I will go there soon and can test anything you suggest.

Thanks in advance!

Error Code (if any): no
Parts or tests already tried: pressure switch and the drain pump

Since no error codes show up in diagnostic mode and the washer is acting the way you described, the main control is the most likely cause of the problem. WPW10629627 Electronic Control Board (Oven Console) | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock
