Whirlpool Dryer

The AUTO setting of the timer won’t advance and won’t shut off. For any other setting it works. I mean, I can hear the ticking sound and if I use the Timed setting it will advance and it will shut off as normal.

Within the AUTO setting, if I manually advance the dial to the Cool Down mode, from that point on it will resume ticking and will advance until the OFF position and will shut off.

I already removed and cleaned the moisture sensor inside the drum but didn’t make any difference.

It all started like this: the Dryer was working fine. It was drying a heavy load of wet blue jeans… and suddenly it stopped. It seemed as if there was no power going through. I read here that it could be the Thermal Fuse. I by-passed and still wouldn’t work. I plugged the thermal fuse again. I openned the door and closed it… press the Start button and I heard a humm noise. I removed all the cloths and it started working!!

I put half the load and it worked but with a very loud grinding noise.

I opened it and found that the felt pad was broken. I replaced it and the drum was working smooth again… but ever since the dryer will not shut off in the AUTO setting.

Any ideas?

Just a follow-up…

Yesterday, when I got home I checked the little board that integrates with the moisture sensor… and it was loose!!!

I inserted it tightly… and the AUTO function now works!!! Aleluya!!!

Thanks to the others who suggested to check this.

Good job!
