I have a Whirlpool Thin Twin stack washer/dryer unit, about 8 years old. The washer works fine. Today, for no apparent reason, the dryer stopped working!!
Pressing the power switch, nothing happens.
I’ve been looking through other forums online.
As far as I can tell, the door switch seems to be fine.
Could the power pushbutton switch be bad?
Or the thermal fuse? If it’s the fuse, how do I repair it? Do I take the back off the unit to get to that fuse?
What else should I be checking? Thanks!
Hi.
You should look for broken belt or the belt switch located near the motor and idler pulley.
The access through the transition panel.

OK, was able to take a look at it today. Belt is definitely broken!
Does this mean the broken belt switch needs replaced too?
HI.
The belt switch is OK. Replace the belt only.
Thank you.
Simon.
WHAT size socket is needed for the bolt that holds the dryer blower fan on the shaft?!? I’m ready to put the belt on, but cannot hold the bolt to get the fan off!!!
Hi.
I’m not sure that you need to take the blower off to replace the belt.Use the common sense to loop it around the idler pulley and motor pulley.
Thank you.
