My dryer will only start on fluff air only. Replaced on/off switch to get even that. Any idea if I need to replace a $125 cycle switch, or is there a step before that? Thanks!
This is generally true for most dryers:
- Check the thermal fuse on the heater assembly. This safety device may cause the symptoms of no heat.
- Check the hi-limit thermostat on the heater assembly. This regulates temperature of the heating element. It’s also a safety device. If the thermal fuse goes, you usually need to replace the hi-limit as well because it didn’t do it’s job. Most manufacturers sell these two together as a “TCO kit” (thermal cut-off/cut-out).
- Check the thermal fuse on the blower motor housing. If this safety device goes out, the dryer will most likely not turn on at all.
- Check the cycling/operating thermostat on the blower motor housing. This regulates temperature of the air.
