Our Whirlpool dryer has started not drying as well as it used to. It will now take about 2-3x longer to dry. The lint filter is clean, the exhaust hose is clean, this happens whether on Automatic or Timed dry (or low or high heat) & the timer DOES advance.
Can anybody please help tell me where to start looking/checking? Let me know it u need the serial # to the dryer! Thanks in advance.
Have you tried cleaning out the lint chute? At the bottom of mine I pulled out two handfuls of lint. You can get to it by the two screws by the lint screen and 4 screws behind the panel.

No, haven’t tried that…I have used a long brush down the lint chute though & gotten out a few fuzzies, but nothing major…I’ll try this - Thanks!
Disconnect the unit’s exhaust from the vent system.
Take a pair of pantyhose.
Put one leg into the other and attach this to the exhaust.
Leave enough room behind the dryer so it can blow out like a windsock.
Run a load.
If it now dries OK, you have a vent problem
If still no good, you have a machine problem.
Either poor air flow or low/no heat
Both can be checked when disconnected from the vent.
If you do not mind some lint blowing out you can do the same thing but without the pantyhose.
