Whirlpool Dryer drum won't spin

I have replaced the the motor and the fan, we checked the belt, and we’ve checked everything else under the back panel. Our drum will also not spin without a push. The motor still creates a humming sound after pressing the button.

Here are your parts

Why did you replace the motor in the first place?
Is the sound more like a buzz, this is the motor trying to start but cannot for some reason.
A hum may be that the motor is running but not turning the drum.

Try rotating the drum in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. You may want to try this on a couple other units to get a feel for it.
If it is hard to turn then you have to pen it up and find the cause.

Recheck how you wired the motor. If you click on it’s picture in the parts a new page will open with additional info on it.

We replaced the motor because we thought it would fix the dryer and stop it from humming. Once we replaced it, it did the same thing, hum…
When we took out the belt and the drum so we could run the motor itself, it ran perfectly.

Also for the cabinet diagram, are the two clamps supposed to be on one side?

Check out the load on the unit. If the drum does not turn easily then the motor cannot start.

Since you have tested the motor I am assuming that the hum is different than the noise the motor makes when running without a load on it.
There is always a possibility that you received a defective motor but this is a rare occurrence.

Do you mean the clamps that hold the motor down?
If yes then I still do not understand the question.
They usually only go on one way to hold the motor down.

Do the clamps go on both ends of the motor? That is how I have set up my motor currently. And what should I do if the drum is hard to turn?

Yes one at each end, I do not think they will go on any other way.

You have to open it up and check what is causing the drag on the drum.
At the top of the list would be the front support glide/bearing, the rear support rollers, the felt drum seal, the idler wheel etc.
Also check that you installed the belt correctly, there is a sticky at the start of this section which should help.

One thing about when we took out the belt and drum that might help, we had to hold the start button for the motor to start working, we held the start button for 30 secs until the motor started. If we released it before 30 secs, it wouldn’t the motor wouldn’t run.

Sounds like there is a problem with the motor.
