When using my Whirlpool Gold Double oven, the heat goes way higher than what the temperature is set at and burns whatever is cooking. When you try to shut the oven off, the display registers that the oven is off, but the heating element continues to heat the oven so hot that it eventually locks the door like it is in self cleaning mode. The only way to make the oven turn off is at the breaker. Should I bother calling a repairman out since they are 11 years old or just buy new ovens?

It sounds like the control board is shot.
I am assuming that only one oven does this.
It could be either the electronics are activating the element improperly or that the relay’s for an element are welded tiogether.
If both elements overheat then it is more likely to be an electronic control problem.
it looks like the control board is no longer available but there are companies that repair these just Google “appliance timer repair”
I cannot say if you should replace the unit a lot depends on what shape they are in, how happy you are with them and if you can get a replacement/repaired board. Also do you have the skills to replace the board yourself as the labor cost could be high.
