Whirlpool double oven not heating after self cleaning

I’ve read similar posts to my problem but want to verify I have the same problem and can be fixed the same way. My oven worked fine yesterday morning and then I decided to clean the upper oven for the first time yesterday using the “self clean” function. About 2hrs into the cleaning cycle I heard a loud popping noise, the oven continued the cleaning process, completed the cycle and did a complete cool down and shut off. The inside is like new but now the upper and lower ovens do not heat. The control panel is operating normally, it sounds like the oven is heating but its not. Looking at prior posts, do we just need to replace the thermal fuse? If so, what are the step by step instructions on doing this, where is the fuse located and can this be done by us or do we need a professional come out? Please also confirm part # that is needed. Thank you for your help!

Hello Kristam,

This question is inaccurate. It might be one of a possible cause of the problem but you have to run troubleshooting in order to determine exact cause of it. Especially because the lower oven does not have self clean and the fuse for the lower oven controls only the Broil circuit.

You can check the ovens shut down thermal fuses from the front of the oven. If any of them or both should be replaced then you will need to remove the oven completely from the cabinet and remove the rear cover..

Open the control panel (use first 6 steps from the attached instruction).

Check for 240 VAC between the Red and the Black wires at the terminal block. Check for 120 VAC between the Red & the White wires and the Black & the White wires at the terminal block. If any of the readings is incorrect, there is something wrong with the circuit breakers.

For the upper oven check for continuity between the wires connected to the P18-4 (red) or the P18-1 (red) terminals at the control board and the Red wire at the terminal block. The fuse is bad if it shows open circuit.

For the lower oven check for continuity between the wires connected to the P26-2 (or) terminal at the control board and the Red wire at the terminal block. The fuse is bad if it shows open circuit.

If there is nothing wrong with incoming voltage and the fuses then the problem is a bad control board. Unfortunately this part is no longer available.
