I’ve done some troubleshooting, but need some advice. Here’s a repeatable scenario:
Start “Rinse Only” cycle
Dishwasher starts filling (after “sensing”)
If open door (before cycle rinse cycle begins), diswasher keeps filling while door is open
Eventually rinsing begins, but filling continues
Water overflows
Press Cancel and water will stop filling (and cycle ends)
Water is drained via pump
I’ve tested the float switch for continuity and it appears to be working normally. BTW, if I trigger the switch while filling, the water does not stop filling. I’d suspect the valve, but it actually seems to be working normal with cycle start/cancel. Perhaps a circuit board issue??
You seem to be missing a few digits at the end of your model number.
I agree with you that it does sound like the water valve is being turned on and then sticking open..
De-activating the float switch should shut the water valve off even if the control board is supplying power to it, same goes for the door switches. so I doubt that the board is your problem.
What you could do to double check this, is to measure the voltage across the water valve when running (120 volts). Then de-activate the float switch, if the voltage drops to 0 but water keeps running then the valve is toast for sure.
Yep- bad valve. The voltage dropped off when either canceling the cycle or triggering the float switch. This time the water wouldn’t stop filling at all so I turned it off at the source.
I’m still not sure of the model number, but the part number on my valve switch is 319781 (from the label).
Off to order… thanks again for making me take a second look.
