I just changed the cord on my whirlpool from four prong to three. I plugged it in and started a load of clothes. Everything was fine for about thirty minutes. I then noticed it didn’t seem hot. I opened the door to stop the dryer and check. Sure enough the dryer had quit heating. Once I closed the door and tried again now nothing will come on. PLease help

Did you install or reconnect the ground strap from the unit’s frame to the Neutral connection on the terminal strip?
Re-check your connections.

There was already a wire connected to the nuetral section. I runs from the center connection to the frame. What should I do? Did I burn something up?
I checked my connection and I now have a tumbling dryer, but no heat and the timer does not seem to me working
Sounds like the original 4 wire cord was wired wrong.
The ground strap should have been disconnected for 4 wire as the Neutral and earth ground (machine frame) are separate.
What should I do?
Do you have a meter and some experience measuring voltage?
Did I burn something up?
I cannot say but I would doubt it as there were no arc and sparks and the circuit breaker did not trip.
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!!
I could not find any tech info on this unit.
You may want to take a look in the control console to see if they have stoer a wiring diagram in there.
thank you for your help!
