whirlpool washer duet front loader not spinning clothes. I can hear the motor as it is spinning but the drum does not move. Before washer would make loud noise during spinning cycle but worker well. Thank you

Did you check for a broken drive belt or if the tumbler pulley fell off the shaft ?
Youāll have to move the washer out and remove the louvred back panel to investigate.

Hi. My Whirlpool Duet front loading washing machine had the same problem. I unplugged it, removed the back panel and replaced the belt.
When doing so, the pulley seemed to me to be loose, but I didnāt know if thatās the way it is supposed to be or not. It seemed loose, front to back, if that makes sense.
I put the panel back on, attached everything and plugged it in. When I tried to wash a small load, it started for a revolution or two and then it sounded like the belt came off, and it stopped rotating.
Any idea what the problem may be?

The bolt that holds the pulley to the drum shaft, should be as tight as possible(there is no torque spec. at this time). Most people use a drop or 2 of āloc titeā on the bolt when they install it , then tighten it as tight as possible.
There should be little to no back and forth movement of the pulley or the drum shaft. if either parts are too loose, or worn, the pulley could wobble and cause the drive belt to kick off, and quit driving the drum. a badly warn belt could cause the problem as well.
At the other end, the motor, check and make sure the mounts and mounting bolts are good and tight as well.

I tightened up the nut on the bolt that holds the pulley in place and then put the belt back on. Tried it out and it worked. We were able to wash clothes for about a week, then the belt kicked off again.
I pulled off the back again and checked it out. Same situation as before - the pulley was wobbly. I then cleaned up the pulley and the bolt , etc, and then tightened it up. However, this time it would not fully tighten. I used a crescent wrench stuck into the the steel bearing hub to allow me to get leverage to tighten it up as much as possible.
The pulley bolt, near the center, where the pulley fits onto it, has a dent in it now, like I tightened it too much and caused the dent. This seems to now make the pulley unable to fully snug up and stay tight. It is still loose
Am I going to have to now replace that pulley bolt piece?

You could probably get by with a couple of washers and āloc titeā
(youāll need to remove the nut and go to a local hardware or auto parts store, and have them match it up with the nut.
Were it me, Iād order and install the pulley and nut
Along with 1 washer and the āloc titeā compound.
This time, donāt over torque the nut, get it as tight as possible, without using any extensions or bracings.
