There is a defrost bi-metal/thermostat located on the evaporator that opens when the defrost heater brings it up to a certain temperature. Otherwise, this model uses thermistors and a control board for temperature regulation instead of a temperature control thermostat.

The refrigerator section’s thermistor AP6006068 is located under a cover under the light lens in the back of the fridge section. And the freezer thermistor AP6006068 is behind the evaporator cover.

This style did have some issues with the evaporator fan motor AP7214718 going bad and causing the unit to act erratically, reset, or stop running. Sometimes you could test that by disconnecting the fan and letting the unit run for a while to see if the issue goes away.
