Water seeps into dishwasher when it is off

Dishwasher operates fine and totally drains when going through its cycle. However, by morning it has water in it–sometimes enough that it has leaked out onto the floor.

If it’s clean water, you’ve got a bad water valve. If it’s waste water it’s backing up from your sink drain or house plumbing. If you had a model # I’d get you a part #.

I have the same problem! The water is dirty and seems to be coming from the sink . Everytime I do dishes in the sink the water level in the dishwasher rises after a little while. I’m not 100% sure though! Its a kitchen aid dishwasher with model no KUDK03FTSS2. How do I know that’s not a plumbing problem? Please help!!

Frank: Thanks for reply. The water seeping into the dishwater is clear and appears to be a leak vs. backup. The dishwasher is a Kenmore Elite, Model #v665.17263401. Is replacement of the valve a major project or something one could try on his own? Pbaroco

Not a tough job. Need to kill power to the unit, turn off the water supply, remove the bottom access panel and you’ll see the water valve. It’ll be the piece that has a couple of wires going to it along with the water supply line. Below is the pt# with picture..
