I have a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side Refrigerator (Model GD25DFXFW01) that does not dispense water from the door. Here is what I’ve done to troubleshoot:
- checked the waterline from the wall to the unit and it works fine
- verified that water still gets into the ice maker and it still works and dispenses ice
- the water filter is 5 months old (I write the date on my filters) and it has very little use; I also swapped it out for a new one just to be sure that it wasn’t the filter; water does not dispense with either the new or used filter
- I unhooked the water line coming from the bottom of the water dispensing side of the dual solenoid (the one that feeds both the ice make and the water dispenser) and when I press the water dispensing button on the door, water flows out of the bottom of the solenoid like it should.
- there is some water still in the line that goes from the bottom of the solenoid (water dispensing side) into the bottom of the refrigerator so I tried blowing on that and could not get water to move through (I do not know if there is another solenoid between where the water enters the bottom of the refrigerator and the dispenser, so this result may be expected …not sure)
- the water dispensing lever on the front makes a distinct clicking noise as it always has so I assume at least mechanically, that the dispensing switch is working fine. I do not know ho to remove the front panel to test the continuity of the switch.
I read through this post but I am sure my dual coil solenoid is working properly.
So, it appears that water is blocked from coming out or there is a solenoid control valve somewhere that I do not know about.
Could someone please give me some ideas I what to check next?
Thanks in advance!
