Washing Machine

I have an old Whirlpool that fills with water, then immediately drains, not simultaneously and before it enters into an agitate cycle. I have checked the timer and the wig-wag and both read OK on the ohm-meter. The plungers appear to be operating correctly (they aren’t broken and are loose when not energized) and the cams don’t look bent. Is there a way that the plungers wouldn’t work even when the wig-wag is checking OK?

i feel problem is the pump drain port remaining open in wash

Thanks- I’ll check it tonight. Would this prevent the machine from going into the agitate cycle?

yes, if the set water level is not reached .
