Washing machine stops and beeps at me

I have a Kenmore front loader. When I start the washing machine and it is filling with water, it stops after a few minutes and it beeps at me with the lights flashing. If I press the button again, it will continue to fill up with water. After a while the machine, beeps at me with the lights flashing. I see that there is still water in the washing machine. So I gues it stops when it is supposed to drain. But yet I can move the handle to the drain and spin cycle and it will do that. Also during this whole process the door stays in the locked position even if I press cancel on the washing machine. Does anyone know why it is doing that?

I read somewhere that if your machine stops in the spinning cycle that is the door lock assembly. But my washing machine has also stopped near the beginning of the cycle.

Thanks for your help.

The flashing lights on this model are the way the machine gives you an error code, since it does not have an LCD display.

Take off the lower front panel, and inside on the left you should find a tech sheet that will tell you how to troubleshoot and interpret the codes.

I suspect the door lock assembly, which regularly fails on these Frigidaire made models, but see if you cannot get better confirmation from the tech sheet.

How do I take off the lower front panel?

Use a quarter inch nut driver to take out the two screws at each edge at the bottom of the panel.

We pulled out the tech sheet and followed the instructions.

The sheet tells us to count the number of beeps and these instructions are very confusing. The instructions say to count the beeps and there is a pause and count the beeps for the second number. However my husband and I could not see any kind of pauses between beeps. We counted way beyond 15 and there is no error code for that. Now what do we do?

Thanks.

If the main control will not generate error codes it is likely the problem, but you will have to replace it to be certain.
