Parts or tests already tried: First it would only rinse intermittently. I replaced the timer. It cycled correctly then it wouldn’t agitate so I replaced the motor coupling. That let it agitate and spin. Then it smelled like the motor was getting hot. I checked the power cord and noticed it was chaffed. The other wiring looked fine. I just replaced the power cord and motor. Now it just hums but won’t start.

It sounds like either the spin basket/drive tube is stuck, or there is an issue with the transmission. If the washer does not agitate or spin but just hums, the transmission is the likely cause of failure. A way to verify this would be to let the transmission drop down from the tub onto a rubber pad so that the clutch does not touch the drive tub brakes. Be carful to not allow any bare wires touch any metal. Then very briefly set the washer to a spin and see if the motor will rotate, then stop the washer. If the motor just hums and nothing else, the transmission is the issue. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
