I replaced the drive belt and now washer goes thru every cycle until it gets to spin cycle then it freezes and smokes,What can I do?

What was the original problem?

How did you install the new belt?

How freely the motor goes forth and back on its mounting plate?

Remove the belts and check how the drive pulley moving in both directions.
