My washing machine won’t fill. No water into the machine at all. It stopped, then worked for a week on and off- now no water- I’ve been filling it up with a hose.
Can someone please HELP!!
Is this something I can fix or am I doomed to buy a new machine…which of course I cant afford right now.
THanks
Okay, you should be able to fix this and you should not have to buy a new machine.
First check to see that the water is on for your hoses and that there is not obstruction on the filter screeens in your water inlet. This is probably not the problem, buy let’s check it anyway so we can rule it out.
Next you need to see if this happens on all wash cycles and with both hot wash and cold wash. If it only happens on one of the cycles, you will probably need to replace the timer. If it just happens with hot or cold, you should probably replace your water valve assembly. To do this you need to take the console and cabinet off. This link will show you how. Note, your console screws may be in front, in back, or under trim pieces.

To make sure it is the water valve assembly switch the hold and cold connections at the valve, and see if the water will not come on on the other temp. If it does not, the valve assembly is your problem, and you can replace it very easily.
If both hot and cold do not come on, then use a meter to see if you are getting 120v to the valve assembly when water is suppossed to be coming in. If you are, replace the valve assembly.
If you are not getting current to your valve assembly then you either have a bad timer or bad water level switch. First clear out the tube running from the water level switch to the tube. Then connect it back on the switch and see if you can detect the switch clicking when you blow hard into the tube. If it does, and I suspect it will, the timer is likely the problem.

Just go slow, take your time and you should be able to get this done.
