Washer won't agitate and makes loud grinding sound

Tried to tighten the bolt inside agitater but that didnt work and there is no coupler. The agitater seems loose and stripped or something. Need help getting this fixed

Hi,

Maybe remove the agitator and run the washer to see if the noise is still there and is the shaft the agitator sits on moving back and forth correctly.

If all is good, the problem is likely the agitator itself…
